If you cut the wattage in half..... it's still going to be LOUD! The joy of tubes!

If you're EQ'd loose, you'll sound loose anyway.

To get rid of half the volume, you'd need to drop to 10 watts. Yeah... You're in for a loud as **** amp regardless. get an attenuator.

Step 1: Open Back Panel
Step 2: Remove 2 Power tubes (the big ones)

Aaaaaannd your done!

Instant 50 watts!

Worst idea ever....never remove tubes....just add an attenuator....

You're not serious right? It doesnt really work that way and 50 watts isn't a steep drop in volume.

You can't pull tubes with every amp.

Going from 100 watts to 50 is only about a 20% decrease in volume. I wouldn't pull out two tubes. What you could do, if the volume knob is too sensitive so its either LOUD, or very quiet and can't get it in between. Build a little volume box thing with 2 input jacks and a 1 meg pot, and put it in the effects loop, makes it a little eaiser to find low volumes. Acts as a master volume, you can adjust the sensitivity of it with your regular volume on your amp. Higher on the amp equals more sensative.

"In my limited experience, amps with 4 power tubes working in a push-pull configuration have the tubes working as pairs."

Go with JoePerry4life's idea.

Pull the outer two power tubes and it's 50W.

It won't make it noticibly quieter, though it will cause it to break up a bit sooner.

It does work, you know, though it still won't decrease volume by a sizeable amount.
