Ok, so im not looking at getting this very soon but for my next guitar i want something 80's hair metal looking. Something like Steve Vai's guitar at the end of Crossroads. Nothing too over the top, 24 fret neck, dual humbuckers, and a floyd, but i want it to look vintage, what do i need to look for?

The guitar at the end of crossroads is a red Charvel.
My name is Tom, feel free to use it.

any charvel or kramer model will be perfect. For a cheaper option, pop a dimarzio super distortion humbucker into your current guitar

Jackson Dinkys work really well for hair metal IMO.

thank you.

as beautiful as those two are, i dont want the middle pickup or the pickguard.

and to the bc rich guy, you did make me think of a used gunslinger...

and i want a pointy headstock, thats not reversed. so no ibanez (i want a FLOYD too)

and my budget would probably not be more than about $600, so no charvels.

Charvel, or a Kramer. I'd suggest a Charvel, though. Kramer quality seems to have gone down the drain, from what I've heard.

I tried it out in store.

Great neck, nice n light, good tuning stability. Overall a good guitar. I didn't but it cause I generally only buy guitars over a grand now.

Only the cheap ones. They still have the reissues like the '84 Baretta RI which is like $900 or $1000 i can't remember which.

oh, that guy, yea, that ESP is pretty ugly, but why is his kramer mishapen?
It's a normal Kramer body, that picture that was posted happens to be a bit of an off-angle with a wide-angle lens so it's making it look more distorted than it is.

Though actually, the Jersey Star technically isn't one of his signature guitars anymore, it's a remake of what was his signature in the late 80's. They're damn nice guitars and a bargain, but they stopped making them anyway.
Yes, I know everything. No, I can't play worth a damn.

If you don't need a tremolo/FR, Gibson Flying V's and Gibson Explorers would be a good choice.

There is one flying v colorway I saw somewhere that was hot pink with a white pickguard. You can't get any more 80's than that if you ask me.

Otherwise, if you want a tremolo, Ibanez or Kramer would be the way to go.

Does it need to be Strat/superstrat-shaped?

Because to me, nothing says "'80s metal" like a Carvin V220.

But the Baretta and 1984 are done. No more production for awhile.

Anyways, get a Jackson DK2M. or DK2. Perfect for what you want.

why does it have to be new? get an old Charvel or Kramer... or if you wanna be unique, check out the Fender HM Strat.

If you can find one, a Yammy RGX211 is perfect for the job (with a pup swap). Will cost a lot less than an Ibby RG from the eighties. Paint it pink sparkle and you're there.
