I'e been marveling at that lead tone forever. It sounds so amazing it doesn;t sound like its coming from a guitar. Is there some effect going on there? Maybe a synth of somesort? I want this beautiful lead tone

BTW: Expect a NAD tomorrow :

No offense, but I didn't find anything particularly astounding about that tone.

1:40 on. I'm not a Neil Young fan, but Powderfinger has such a great lead tone it scares me.
Everyone is entitled to an opinion.

Feel free to express yours so I can make an informed judgement about how stupid you are.

It's just a harmony between two guitars. Definitely not a synth.

It's 2 guitars doing a lead....

Uhm, It's using the neck pickup if that helps
That tone is quite bad impo.

Pitch Shifter, Dual Guitar or an Equalizer. And it's not that great of a tone in my opinion, but a good song.

I know its harmonized. The tone of the actual GUITAR is good IMO. I may have exagerated. It's not the best lead tone I've ever heard, but its the most unique IMO.

So, any responses for the toanz not the lolnoob suggestions?

WTF: Don't spill the beans. And yes I will have clipz

Im pretty sure the used Valvestates on that record, before they used 5150's. Not amazing tone, but a kickass album for sure.

Well the rhythm doesn't surprise me for the Valvestateor the 5150. I'm confused as to how they go from the bassy scooped rhythm tone, to that smooth middy lead tone.
