Just your run of the mill new amp and tube day (I plan ahead). As the smoke is still clearing from my npd:

Crate Palomino v16 and some 5751 preamp tubes, don't know what company, but 5751's are the answer to tone troubles. Put one in the v1 and v2, cleared up some muddiness, excellent.I took the stickers off first, before anyone says something I don't have the means to record clips.

group shot, (old skool fuzz, byoc tonebender, none more nurple, and mi audio blues pro) still need an a/b/y and a fat-boost, along with a greenback or clone

Sweet, I really want to play a Palomino. I miss my V-33...

Also: I take offense to you calling this an average NAD, this NAD is slightly above average. In the rules it clearly states; 'No Adjectives.'

I realized I need a british-voiced amp to be happy with my tone.

It's on the list, can't justify spending the money right now. technically, this is for my little bro. to jam on, even though he doesn't have a guitar yet, and he's really a drummer at heart

thanks, it's basically a budget set-up, but I can get tones i'm happy with, and that's what matters, right? still need more fuzzes too...

That's my main hope, but I'm looking for the h75 in 16-ohm, 25W form, which apparently is harder to find on the used market

Well done sir, I got the exact same amp about a week ago and it's awesome. HNAD!

How much did you pay for yours?

I paid $250 with the 5751's, a little on the high side imo, but with shipping costs in there I'm not going to complain, that's about what you get 'em for on ebay

With the tubes and shipping that's not too bad, I got mine for $150 locally. You still got a good deal considering these were over $300 new.

How are those new tubes compared to the stock ones? I might have to look into those...

Nice one Pak. I picked up a Crate Vintage CLub 20 a couple weeks ago and the tone is dreamy. I plan a NAD post as soon as I record some clips. Your brother is a lucky dude.

Not bad tone huh pak? For $250 with new t00bz.

Edit: It's very similar to the VC2010.
I wondered why the frisbee was getting bigger, then it hit me.

hmm so the 5751's help clean up the muddiness I've heard about?

What about the darkness?

Just curious, HNAD.

GUITAR PEDALS FOR SALE

They've got a little less gain than the 12ax7, but have more than another other 12_7 variation. I had one in my killer ant and really liked it, so I tried it in here. Lowers the gain a little so it helps retain some clarity, I think the amp's still a little bass heavy, but hoping a speaker change can sort it. As far as brightness, I think it something more along the lines of going from JJ to tungsol tubes would help, I didn't find these to really impact the darkness. Luckily, I've got a tele, so that's not a big issue with me, and I have the tone maxed on my blues pro, which is usually on.

My brother's 13, but I've been letting him play my guitar a little and he wanted to get in on the whole deal, so I think my parents are going to pay for his guitar. Maybe a strat, hopefully I'll pick it out and if he doesn't keep with it, just yoink it. Depending what happens, this may come out to pittsburgh with me along with the ampeg. He's been a drummer for 2 years now, so he's acually got a good sense of rhythm, just need to teach him some chords and we're all set for some household jams.

O yeah, those settings were like that out of the box, they're not my settings

Where are all these Palo's coming from, is this a used amp?

Pretty Epic NGW for you. (New Gear Week)

Yeah, I didn't expect this to come in until thursday, but apparently it made it in before last call on Friday, otherwise I would've made one giant thread. Just got my tickets to a govt mule show too.

Got this from a guy on tgp, a used amp but it's been recently retubed (before it got to me) and whatnot. My brother's on it now, he doesn't like the ampeg too much, not enough gain for him. This is a mia one (crafted and manufactured), so I didn't mind the price, and it's a little older than whatever the vietnam ones are. There's a good discussion by the guy that designed this (and the vintage club series) about the differences between the mia and made in vietnam ones, along with some mods and whatnot. The engineer now has his own boutique amp company, but it was a good read.

it's an ampeg j-12 actually, from back in the day. Really like it, it just doesn't overdrive until around noon on the volume, and I can't crank it up that loud all the time.
I heard the new ones are being discontinued, and that st. louis music supply may be going under. I'd call sam ash quick

Much appreciated, don't need a fat boost and aby now. Gonna have to wait a bit, parents are getting wise to the game, and don't understand the importance of having two amps in stereo

God damnit, I just called Sam Ash about the J-20, they're sold out.

And to think I could've had it for $300.

Have you tried getting musicians friend or guitarcenter to price match it? That might work too

Yea, print the screen with the sale price and see if someone will match it.
