As of now im broke, but,

Should i save up the $600 and get the Raven halfstack?

or would it be better for me to save up $1000 for a Peavey Valveking?

I know the Peavey is better, but, is it worth waiting pretty much twice as long? Or should i just buy the Raven when i have enough cash

Any help would be appreciated, thanks

Its not 1000$ for a Peavey, theres some on ebay/craigslist for like 400$.
Thats in the US though, I don't know about other places. Answer these...

Gigging?
Budget?
Guitars?
Tones you Want?
Location? (Big citys = more craigslist deals)
Genres/Bands?

Im gonna start gigging around this year, i have a show for sure in march

I don't really have a budget, it's just a matter of wether i should wait longer to raise enough money for the peavey

I have a cheap Ibanez RG that i love, tho everyone on here seems to hate them

I want a wide range of tones, but mostly a Megadeth-type of sound

Miami

Mostly metal, possibly Metalcore in the near future

Yeah, alot of used amps are in good shape. These are all from 300-500$ used. All available as combos. Some also as heads...

Line 6 Flextone III. 300$
Line 6 Vetta. 450$
B-52 AT112. 350$
Ampeg VH140c. 250-350$
Peavey Classic 30. 300$
Peavey Ultra 60. 350+$, its a head though. So you'd need a cab.
Crate Vintage Club 20. 200$
Blackstar HT-5. 300$, its a head and is 5-watts, but amazing tones and you can mic it.

Those are all good for you. Maybe a OD for the Classic 30 and Ultra if you want really hi-gain. I would personally reccomend the Ampeg, it is SS and can go from heavenly cleans to brutal gain and most stuff inbetween. And its hella loud aswell. It sounds best at around 3 on the volume though IMO.

OK, so I missed the 'Metalcore' part before I started my search so not all of these are perfect for you, but it didn't take me long to find them on craigslist. Now that I know you want metal and gig the list can be paired down but I'll post it all anyway by way of example.

Most of these were all posted recently. Some of the new amps listed so far are good too. Valveking is pretty versatile but you will need better than average speakers and an OD/EQ pedals.

i would go for the peavey, except that's not necessarily true. the regular 60 can go as low as 200, the + might go for 300-350, and they also come in ocmboes.

Head and Cab for $130? You don't need a head and cabinet, you need a psychological examination.

Yeah, i was thinking about that but if I'm gigging at the local high school (I wont be going there till the year after next year, I'm going into 8th grade this august, but the yearly Battle Of The Bands around here is in the high school) then i would need a big amp, their PA system isn't very good, and they only have one mic as far as i know. In the last BOTB, some kid was using a 15 watt amp and you couldn't hear his guitar at all.

But if i'm gigging at a good venue, like the Talent Farm here in miami, i'd be alright with a small 5 watt amp coz they have an amazing PA.

That's why i rather get a half stack, or at least the Peavy Bandit 112 up there so the crowd can hear me no matter what show I'm playing.

You don't need a half stack to be loud. We need to get a budget, because as of right now, we could suggest any amp to you...

Where in Christ's name is charging you $1000 for a Valveking?

Don't get the Raven, it's garbage and will not last any giggingyou plan on doing. Checl out 311's Craigslist suggestions, he knows his stuff and there are some perfect amps there for you, all very well priced too.

That Genz Benz Diablo for $500 is nice.
I wondered why the frisbee was getting bigger, then it hit me.

Possibly this as a head, just drop him to $500-$550

http://miami.craigslist.org/mdc/msg/1226690162.html

Look up "cabs" on your CL, there are a ****load. That should get you metalcore and you will not have any issue with being loud enough

Edit: If you hit that guy up, check about how many hours on the tubes and if it has been serviced. If the tubes need to be replaced or it needs a once over, drop the price more and use that as justification....
