Okay so I play rock and alternative music alot.

I just want a guitar that has a great Low/ low mid sound, you know what I mean.

I do want to be able to plug it into a sound system so a pickup/preamp is preferable.

I can`t spend a whole lot on it either.

i know martin's in the $1000 dollar range definitely have the sound you're looking for. a low boomy voice with not too defined highs.

i think your best bet might be an epiphone masterbilt. i haven't had much experience for something that's got that kind of tone except for a martin. they have that kind of unique sound.
