I changed the strings on my fender strat using the same gauge strings that I allways use (ernie ball super slinkys) but this time for some reason there's so much tention, I've had to put it in Drop C just to feel normal!!

Eventually the strings will loosen up a bit and you'll be able to go higher. Well maybe you should just push them a bit further by yourself... When this happens to me I do some bends on each string all over the fretboard a couple of times and then I tune higher. The worst that can happen is that you break a string or something.

Grab the string, pull it up, and move it around gently but rapidly, and I don't mean on the fretboard. I promise the lord never to say this AGAIN but go Herman Li on that guitar and bend those strings UP.

It works.

Only time Ive seen a true single coil in a chrome humbucker housing was chinese knock off where they claimed it was a humbucker but half the housing was empty.
