Ok, so I was trying to sell one of my amps...
I guy offered another amp in trade...
I went to samash to test that amp...

Gah, I need helpzorz.

I see an Ampeg Jet J-20 sitting there all pretty with a price tag of $299.

I pull my guy Dan over and ask ?
He replies

He says here, hands me a strat and a jimi hendrix pic.
I reply, "that's fitting..."

Then the prick tells me everything is 20% off today. I wanted to blow a snot at him.

Out the door, $264.00 (high county sales tax)

Almost bought the last two, he said, "hey, 30 day return policy, if you don't flip it?"
I replied, "you're good" But I have other amps to sell... See thread title...

While checking out, he said he is getting a custom strat made. I told him he should buy my vibroverb for that strat. (Ha, take that I thought). He gasped, I told him to breathe deep. He's going to let me know today. Think I may have it sold, lol...

UPDATE: A guy is picking up the vibro this afternoon, so if that happens, I've thinned the herd.

Double wrap, always people, always...

Here's some info on this model Jet.

Ampeg J20 Jet Tube Guitar Combo Amp

Leave it to the tone-obsessed engineering staff at Ampeg to come up with the no-compromise, 20-watt, all-tube, point-to-point wired J-20 combo. Part of the Diamond Blue Lead Series, the J-20 Jet's retro-styling is highly evocative of the '60s in attitude, as well as tone.

J-20's preamp section boasts not one, but three 12AX7 tubes, and its dual 6V6 output stage operates in either cathode- or fixed-biased mode. The end-result of all this "inner tubing" is a guitar combo with controllable vintage "crunch" along with Ampeg's hallmark ease-of-operation. The simple Volume/Tone control setup makes it easy to quickly dial in just the right amount of edge for personal bliss.

With its point-to-point wiring, 5AR4 rectifier tube, 12" alnico speaker, and foot-switchable, bias-vary tremolo circuitry, the Ampeg J-20 is a no-compromise guitar combo ideal for even the most tone-obsessed guitarist.

* RMS Power Output: 15W (Cathode bias) 20W (Fixed bias) Class AB
* Speaker: 1 x 12" alnico
* Preamp Tubes: Tubes (3 x 12AX7)
* Power Amp Tubes: Tubes (2 x 6V6)
* Rectifier: Tube (5AR4)
* Controls: Volume, Tone
* Effects: Tremolo
* Footswitch: Tremolo On/Off
* Output: Dual ¼" jacks
* Dimensions (W x H x D inches): 20 x 17.5 x 9.75
* Weight: 25 Pounds

Warranty:
All AMPEG products are covered by a limited warranty. In short, the warranty states if the products purchased have not be abused in any unusual way, they are covered for 5 years on the electronics and 2 years on the speakers.

I can post the link once a mod says it's ok, but it shouldn't be too tough to find an Ampeg J-20 at Samash's web site. Actually if you can't find it, then a 4 knob amp may be too confusing for you, lol. for teh lazies... http://www.samash.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/product_J20%20Jet%20Tube%201x12%20Guitar%20Combo%20Amplifier_-1_10052_10002_-49967480

Nope gotta turn that down. Frankly, 60 watts would be too much for my needs/life. I am thinning the herd tho, hopefully.

And thanks guys up ^ there.

That's an awesome deal, too bad they didn't put reverb on these bad boys.

And possibly a sale too? That's a very productive trip to sam ash, dare I use the e-word?

HNAD! I can imagine in like 30 years time your amp collection is going to be huge. full of amps that you thought you could sell, but never have been able to.
#16
Dang, you bought one of those. I was drooling but resisted because I too am a gasoholic. They are seriously backordered now from what I hear.

Please give up some clips and a review.

Hi gregs!

That's a pretty ridiculous find, and awesome that you were able to sell you vibroverb to that dude too ... hopefully.

I'm covered on reverb, but yea it would be nice. A barely audible hint of trem does wonders. "e-word"?

HNAD Gregs...never even heard of this amp before..

It's a new take on an old workhorse, but kept point to point, tube rectified, and vintage styled.

I can't wait to shove an OD in front. That's later today or tomorrow, clips to follow.

Review, sure. American voiced clean tone monster. I'd say a good competitor for tone new would be the DRRI. (The drri having reverb and trem and a ss rectifier so no sag).

I hope so, he takes good care of me. I would like him to get it but I have a couple very good offers if he passes today. And I don't usually buy new, most of you know that. But for under $270? Not going to pass that up.

I called up Sam Ash in the middle of the night last night just to get that amp for $300.

They were out of stock.

PS: HNAD!

HNAD Is this thing really point-to-point wired or is there some loop hole that that can claim its ptp? For example all the pots are wired ptp, the rest is PCB, cool amp no the less, kind of Fender champ/tweed deluxe thing going on thier. Is the gain cascading or is it a clean channel amp?

Like we said in that thread last night. Have MF or GC pricematch the sale price before samash pulls it down. Seriously, this amp for $300 is insane.

I wasn't going to pull it apart to check but it is advertised that way. It's a clean channel amp. I may go in thar to see what's spinning around.

It's a Phillips somthingoranother. Loses bass in the clips but the mids and trebs are right.

It's 20 watts, I thought the tweed champs were lower wattage.
It's made in Korea, like a tank.
OK, ok, I'll pull apart a perfectly good amp, for the third time in a week.

It'll take a couple hours, I'm not home yet from last night.

The Champs where lower wattage, but the Tweed deluxe, 5e3 curcit is almost exact same specs as this amp, when set to Catoide Bias, 12-15 watts,2 12ax7 2 6v6's and 5Y3 Rectifier. May not be a clone, but its I bet its roughly bassed of this curcit. I bet the Extra 12ax7 is a Phase inverter, only being used on the fixed bias mode.
