I goggled, couldnt find a decent list.

Story is: My University (Dundee) is starting a Monthly Metal/Rock Night for this year due to a successfull one night trial a while back set up by a few of my mates and I. And for the freshers week opening, the Student Union events manager suggested booking a well known member of a british metal band do DJ for the night.

Now, bands like Sabbath, Priest and Maiden are out of the question (unfortunatly) Its not the biggest venue. Our only idea so far is someone from Enter Shikari (****ing SIGH) So a little hand to think of other possabilities/ideas would be much appreciated.

The thing is, they need to be fairly well known. so Viking Skull and Evile arent really appropriate.

The nasty thing is..

This from a country who're trying to make up for being late for the last two world wars by being really early for the next one?

Yes they are.
Ever thought that bands like BMFV are so famous they're probably doing a **** load of festivals right now and will be for some time.

EDIT: DJ? sorry i read that wrong, dunno then, if a band member has spare time maybe otherwise don't get your hopes up to much.

Why not get a more rock orientated band?
I saw The Subways supporting AC/DC [subways are a great band, and sounded heavier then I expected], and the singer seems like someone who would know a thing or two about good music.
I could be wrong though...

Seriously, this is difficult.

Black Tide aren't British.

Bullet For my Valentine's new album is thrashier, I guess you could look at 'modern' from a wider perspective to include classical composers and throw in some Carcass.

Define "modern"; do you mean like, modern sounding, formed within a certain period of time or just still going?

An Augmented 4th or a Diminished 5th?
