So, lately I've had the immense temptation to upgrade one of these:

Mostly for a joke, but I think with a new pickup and some alterations it might be really nice.

I know it's 7/8 size, but I think it has an average scale. The website doesn't say much and I'm not sure where to look.

Exact quote is "7/8 Size Electric Guitar which has a full size neck".

Yah, I think you could get new hardware, some new pups (i dont suggest putting anything more than GFS in it), and maybe try out a scallop if you havent before

Well I won't go and buy an 81/85 combo for it right off the bat :P

And I'm not a fan of scalloped fretboards.

No I just rattled off an opinion about something I have no experience with.

Yes I've played them.

No need to get nasty now, there are just a lot of people on this forum who have opinions without anything backing them up, so we have to check sometimes

Ah, I see.

I shan't interrupt your idiot screening further, officers. Carry on.

Although a scalloped fretboard would increase the lulz, seeing as it's a really shreddy thing to do on such an unlikely guitar.

If you can inspect the neck before buying, maybe. Else, no way. This isn't like the Hello Kitty from Squier. This is from a no-name manufacturer. That neck might be okay or it might be a warped piece of ....

You can replace pickup, bridge, nut, tuners at reasonable cost. But if the neck is crap, don't bother.

That's my main fear. But they're going for about $85 (lowered from around $110) so they aren't gonna be of PRS quality. But yeah I'll give it a thorough inspection.

for 85, you could probably make a cheap neck and still be under 400 total for this.

I'm getting positive vibes for this

Replacing the neck is another option. Might not make my own for the sake of time, but I'll probably repaint the headstock to match the body.

damn, i was actually hoping the guitar would be a rectangle and painted to look like spongebob.

though i have to say i am with SYK on this. if you can try it and the neck is ok then its worth working on. however i suspect that its going to be a really bad neck, so buying blind (un-felt?) would be a bad idea. i still wouldnt put down $85 for a guitar with a neck i wouldnt touch.
