It is a scam, I ran into the same thing and asked for advice here.

A response was that the movers will come and rape my family while they steal my stuff.

Don't do it, the movers will come and rape your family while they steal your stuff.

So I was wondering, are black people capable feeling love? I mean can their brains comprehend that kind of emotion, or are they not programmed that way.

What weirds me out is that I got a very similiar email from another person

Hi,

Just want to know if its still for sale, I'm located in alabama and I'm really interested in this, actually I am purchasing it for my church as a gift , The church is here in alabama too. which I would love to pay you with a Certified Check, I will issue the check to you including the money to cover the shipping cost to me.
I will get a shipping agent to handle the shipping from my end here so it doesn't stress you. Get back to me and let me know where we go from here. And oh yeah, I am going to need your full name and address and a phone number for the check mailing if its all good.
Write back.

It is a scam, they just want your info. Ive received multiple emails that imply ive spoken to them before through craigslist which never actually write what the item in question is and say they want to buy it immediately through check or cashiers check

Is it really that hard for some of you to realize stuff like that is a scam. If the message doesn't sound like it's a person talking to you, it is DEFINITELY a scam. Who actually talks like this...

i will love to make an instant purchase i will be posting a certified check to cover the cost of the item while you hold on my behalf

remove your item from craigslist, then contact with questions on the item.

Like most everyone said, don't do it.

Things to look for that should warn you it's a scam:

They rarely state the item they want to purchase.
The english is usually broken, like someone who learned english as a second language (not meant to offend, just simply how many of them are).
They always wish to pay either with check, cashiers check, money order, or western union.
They say to consider it sold and ask you to remove the ad from CL.
They usually state some "mover" will come by to pick it up (appearantly they needed a "mover" for a guitar pedal I was selling some time ago).
They always request your personal info, stating it's so that they can send you the payment.

If you ever do follow through and they send you a check, it's always going to be for much more than what the sale is for, then they'll just request that you send the difference back. What they've done is sent you a counterfeit check which they then expect yo to cash, and send them the difference of the check and the sale. They get the money, and then the bank holds YOU responsible for cashing a counterfeit check. You get screwed.

If you mention that you want cash only, they'll usually "disappear" and you won't hear from them again.

Always do cash only deals, face to face.
