I said to my guitarist that id play anything for him, but i cant make a bassline to open (You know, when theirs an open between every other note) riffs, that isnt the exactly the same riff, or root notes, in which case, i would be playing an open D string (drop D) the whole song.

He wrote a whole song using open riffs, so im Improv soloing through the whole song.

Its a band. It dosent have to be fair, and if you dont like it then quit.

Aha, i do like it, its just one song, and ive told him i cant do it. I wasnt asking if he was being fair to me, i was asking if i was being a dick.

Only if he wrote it particularly because you asked him not to.

Just play the same thing as him, it probably sounds a lot better than improvising.

I think you need to stop caring what people think about it. I stayed home all day today and masturbated like 5 times. Fucking blast.

What's wrong with just playing what he plays?

I'm assuming you mean something along these lines

If it's fast, I can't see anything wrong with playing the same thing, if it's slow I guess you could improve around it.
+1, but you could also just not play the open notes if it still sounds good.

And....
