So i was restringing my guitar, and as i was filing the nut for a larger gauge when the nut came right out. Should i glue the nut in or do you just let the string tension hold it in? it looked liek there was a bit of glue in there before. Also what kind of glue should i use if i should glue it?

Happened to my LP 100 too back in the day. Glue it. Tension alone isn't enough to keep it ROCK solid.

A tiny blob of super glue will do it. Standard little trick when fretting a neck. Just enough so that nothing can moves, not so much that it will crack off wood when you remove it.

Get a decent nut while your at it.
