I was at guitar center today looking for an amp to help fulfill my stoner rock/metal needs when I came across an old Ampeg Rocket Reverb. The amp had a very warm sound and it was one of the best clean sounds I have ever heard. It could easily pull off the Sabbath type sound. I was wondering if anyone knew anything about this amp and could tell me anymore about it. Also, if you know of a better amp for Stoner Rock/Metal in the $600 price range, let me know.
As my one of my old guitar teachers used to say, "Metal really comes from classical music. The only difference is pinch harmonics, double bass, and lyrics about killing goats."

As long as it has the gain you need, you'll be fine.

They're fantastic amps. Especially, as you noticed, for the cleans.
Feel free to call me Kyle.

Just so you know, I read everything you type in a Mike Rowe from Dirty Jobs voice.

I mean in Kyle's case, it is in the best interest of mankind that he impregnate anything that looks at him funny...

My only worry is that it won't cover the gain for Thrash metal. But would I be able to push it just enough with a tube screamer?

I'm not sure, honestly. I'd suggest going back to the store and trying that out.
