Its a peer pressure thing, as one UGer gets one amp... another feels the itch and buys one... then another then another ad infinitum.

My NAD is still a looooong way away... Mesa's so behind schedule.

got a sick NAD comin in a few weeks. I've got $400 (out of $1400) left to pay on my MAZ 38 Sr! then I just need a good A/B box, Visual Sound Open Road, and a yet undecided upon compressor. Combine all that with my Taylor T5 and my ultimate country rig will be well off for a while

I'll actually have a NAD NPD NCD all in one! Lions and Tigers and Bear... OH MY!!!

I did one of those

Mine was a new rig day
NGD (guitar)
NAD (amp)
NPD (pedalx3)

EDIT: I also think that it's a GAS thing. When one UG'er (like me) sees another's NAD, they then want that amp. And buy it

I remember I made a thread like a year ago, asking everyone what GAS meant.

Turned out like half the regulars didn't even know

That thread got so huge for what it was

Yep, this is the type of gas that doesn't pass. And there is no medication you can take to help quell the pains. Sorry folks, Immodium don't work.

try and find some actual hardware mods for it, that'd be sick if you can do anything to it.

I know the classic 30 is pretty hard to mod besides speaker/tubes. I'm sure the valveking is the same though.

Yeah this. Peer Pressures a bitch man, thinking back just about everything I regret doing my friends were right there with me. Misery loves company I guess. Sorry this should be about amps not life.

American or British? Because if you want vintage british tones on a budget, get a Vintage Club Crate. Side by side with my marshall it does a great job of keeping in step. It doesn't have the headroom, but it has more gain so there's your trade off. Some would prefer the gain. Just two cents.

This and probably also some graduations etc.

I would never have bought another amp but come on, a point to point wired hand built amp for $264? How can you pass that up?

There's a nice little write up in theAmpeg J-20 manual about the difference in preamp tubes. I thought that I would try a 12AU7 in the preamp of my Crate a see if I could get some more clean headroom. It has more gain on tap than I need.

It's on page 6 if anyone wants to take a look...
