I have a real cheap Johnson acoustic guitar that was my first guitar. Doesnt really sound that good, and I dont really like the finish on it. Real basic sound and looking.
I want to give it a new life, just to have another one to mess around with.
I use D'Addario medium phosphor bronze strings on it. Would an upgrade of strings, like a new brand, different coat on it, make it sound better? If so, what do you recommend?
Also, would lightly sanding the body and putting a stain on it ruin the guitar? I have heard from one person that sanding it and staining it changes the sound of the guitar...
get brass bridge pins. i HATED the sound of my guitar, did that, and now i absolutely love it. it gives it a brighter sound, and significantly more sustain.
