I was thinking about this and was just wondering what everyone's opinion was...

In this day and age, is there anything an Indie label could provide for a new band/artist that they can't do themselves? With all of the latest home digital technology and internet resources, are indie labels necessary any more?

Indie labels are more important and relevant now than they ever have been in the past.

It's all about exposure, my child.

Really? I've yet to hear about any.

And yes TS. We have technology today that comes standard with computers that could outdo what The Beatles had used to record "St. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band". Not to be confused that the record was poorly done. No, it was magnificent. It's what you know about a system, and how willing you are to learn it in-and-out to get the results you want from it. It's what you write, how it sounds, and who you know that makes it all happen.

Networking? Marketing?

I'm sure labels are pretty useful for that.

But I'm only guessing, I've never been on a label or anything.
