Good style and feeling, but I think you could stand to upgrade the ol' recording rig! The first part, the power chord riffing, was very muddy and hard to distinguish. But played live it must sound really nice, because from what I heard later, you have some wonderful tone going there. Some parts of it were a little iffy. The very beginning, actually, the quiet intro right after the volume swells, had some bits which were a little off. But you really did it nicely! I have to ask, though, because I couldn't quite tell--did you do the sweep picking parts or substitute some very clever legato for them? Because if you used legato phrasing instead, you need to tell me what you did, because my proficiency at sweeping is limited as heck, and until I learn, an alternative to fill in those blank spaces is always nice. Nice cover

I have to say that I really enjoyed this piece. Sure, you don't have a professional recording setup, but I am very impressed. You seem to be very confident with playing the song, and I can't find any major mistakes. I might change your tone to be a little brighter, but otherwise it sounds very good.

To Wynterbite:

I'm not sure which sweep picking part you're speaking of.. Could you give me a timeframe of which part that you're talking of? I'll give you tabs to whichever part you want just tell me which part.

nice man, I like! I think when you upgrade your rig as others said, it will sound totally killer!

Right around 1:41, 2:39, and 3:39--that's the big long sweeping phrase.

At 1:41 it is a 5-string sweep with a tap on the 17th and 21st fret on the high e string
Here is the tab for 1:41

e----------------------9--12h--17t--12p--9p--21t--12p--9p---------------
b-----------------10---------------------------------------10-----------
g-------------9------------------------------------------------9--------
d--------11-------------------------------------------------------11----
a---12---------------------------------------------------------------12-
E-----------------------------------------------------------------------

At 2:39, what am doing is picking is down-picking on the 12th fret on the G-string, and up-picking on the 15th fret on the B-string, and pulling off to the 12th fret on the B-string.

TAB:

e---------------------------------------------------------------------
b-------15--12p---------15--12p---------15--12p----------15--12p------
g--12--------------12-------------12-------------12-------------------
d---------------------------------------------------------------------
a---------------------------------------------------------------------
E---------------------------------------------------------------------

Then I move the same exercise up two frets:

e---------------------------------------------------------------------
b-------17--14p---------17--14p---------17--14p-----------17--14p-----
g--14--------------14-------------14-------------14-------------------
d---------------------------------------------------------------------
a---------------------------------------------------------------------
E---------------------------------------------------------------------

At 3:39, this is not sweeping at all, what it really is is clever tapping technique that I use, because I prefer not to use sweeping. Its pretty much the exact same lick as this up until 3:10: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SxpBXs6bOZ0

Thanks for the tabs! I'll have to incorporate those into my version. That tapping bit seems fun even to learn on its own.

Hey thanks for the crit. This is very good, other then a couple really minor mistakes I didn't heard anything wrong with it at all, sounds great. I agree that the power chords got a little muddy sounding, but not too bad, and as wynterbyte said, it probably sounds even better live and is just a result of recording equiptment.
