Right it's my 18th in a couple of months and I should be going back to music college and reforming my band and getting serious again, so I'm looking for a new guitar.
At the moment I'm playing a Jackson RR3 through my 6505+

I'm definitely looking for a superstrat/soloist shape
24 frets
Preferably carved top
Ideal pickups for me would be EMG 81/S/S or 81/85
Not fussed about locking trem/string through
Nice flat neck

At the moment I'm looking at an LTD MH1000FR
http://www.dv247.com/invt/47026/

But I'd appreciate all opinions and suggestions.
My budget is around £1000 (preferably on the three-digit side of that) which is about $1650, bearing in mind that guitars in the US often cost maybe 2-thirds of what they do in the UK.

EDIT:
Uses: home practise and heavy gigging
Styles: just about everything but mainly technical death metal, melodic death etc
Thanks in advance y'all
ohai little sig.

Locking Tuners
Comes with fixed bridge or Floyd Rose

Try it out that is if you don't already have one.

Ibanez iceman, xiphos, or 7 string xiphos. They all come with d-activators, so you might not have to get emgs in them. Ive played d-activators before, and they sound alot like actives

thats wut i would have suggested. its a bit cheaper than the LTD i think. the schecter does have a thicker neck from what i have heard. if u can, try out the guitars.

and a jackson DKMG would work great. it has a bolt-on neck though, but thats good if the neck suffers any severe damage. it does have a floyd rose floating trem however.
