Not too long ago, I was faced with a dilemna. I was getting my guitar set up at a shop after a pickup swap, and he asked me to pick a set of strings.

I casually walked over to the strings and...

...

No D'adarrio .10 nickelwounds....

So instead I thought to myself, "Should I just get D'adarrio .9's, or should I get another brand of strings in .10's?"

and so I ask you the same question, String Gauge or String brand?

Well, .10's are .10's. If you get a setup for 9's you're gonna have to stick with 9's unless you want another set up.

I have to have Nickle wound .11s. I don't care the brand it has to be nicklesteel .11s, EB, DM, D'ads, even GHS I can't fly without my .11s.

Well of course strings are strings, but I'm particularly picky about picks and strings...

What are you going to do when you want to put 10's on it, and the intonation and action is set up for 9's
