Hey now! Red dragons! (any peeps get that?)

Anyways. I've basically been a guy who just learns tab ever since I've picked up a guitar many years ago. My ears have adjusted well, and I know what chords (to an extent) sound good together. But I want to know more.

I've recently learnt the Am pentatonic scale and I would like to know what other scales are good ones to learn? And what about chord progression? All that crap.

All I want to know is where to start? There is so much out there I don't even know where to begin. I'm not a noob when it comes to playing, but I am a noob when it comes to theory or anything that resembles theory.

I apologize if this is in the wrong forum.

Learn the notes of the neck (watch freepower's theory vids)

Learn the major scale inside out (you can derive pretty much any other scale you will ever use from the major scale) - not just how to play it, but how its constructed in terms of notes and intervals - then learn how to harmonise it (which will start to teach you about cord construction and chord progressions)

Check out the Music Theory FAQ sticky in MT
