Have a Gibson or Fender endorsement? Explain your choice!

Personally, I'd rather have one from Gibson since they're generally much more expensive than Fenders and have a higher resale value. If my band/solo project was at the point where we would get offered a Gibson endorsement, I could probably afford all the Fenders I want anyway :P Not to mention I'll forever be GAS-ing for a '58 les paul.

I'd take one from either company though, of course.

if you get a Gibson endorsement, you are not going to play any fenders, they are competing brands and will not continue to endorse you if you advertise a competing product.

Fender, but I'm a bassist, so I don't know if it really counts .
Also, Fender seems to have more customising options and they'd be glad to build you a very metal Telecaster.
#12
Despite the fact I love Telecasters and Jazz Basses more than anything ever, I voted Gibson. I'm never going to be able to afford a Les Paul Custom, even though it's all I really want, so based on that I'd go Gibson. Although, I don't know how much difference being endorsed would make - I know someone who's been endorsed by Vintage and he still had to buy his own bass from them.

As much as an awesomely customized Telecaster sounds right now, I'm going for Gibson.

I love LP's and SG's, to the point I'd sell away any Fender.

Fender by such a long way. A couple of the nicest guitars I've ever played have been Fenders whereas I've never been hugely impressed by Gibsons.

And Gibson don't make telecasters.

I think you mean Fender or Gibson sponsorship. An endorsement is where you make a statement for advertising purposes that you like the brand, it doesn't mean they give you free stuff unless you're famous of course haha

but i'd definitely go for Gibson
#23
Technically, the difference is that an endorsement requires that you sign a contract with the company. Both provide you with free (probably more like discounted) stuff, just one requires a contract and is for more nationally-regarded acts.

To TS, your sole reason to want a Gibson Endorsement is because you can sell the guitar? You do know that you can't sell the guitars your endorser gives you right?
In fact a lot of companies would expect to take their guitars back off you if you moved away from them, and selling your guitars would probably end up with you kicked.
(And Gibson don't control you getting a '58 les paul, vintage guitars are left to your own devices).

But I'd prefer Fender, endless possibilities with their guitars.

I forgot to say why I'd pick fender, a quilt top tele with 24 frets as well as a cyclone with floyd rose would make me swoon.

Either would be fine, because I'd sell whatever they gave me to buy more Suhr guitars!!!!!

I must say Fender, as I'm completely smitten with Telecasters and Precision Basses.
Although with the ES series and the Explorer, Gibson is quite tempting...

I really doubt fender will make anything neckthrough or 24 fret. I justed shattered dreams of two people. I think you can sell them if you OWN them. but I wouldn't. if your that famous you already have money. this is about having them listen to you when you tell them how you want it. I know people will jump on me for this but why would you need a masterbuild customshop fender when you can get something similar from other companies? not to mention that anyone can order a masterbuilt customshop for $$$. Gibson on the other hand could make something thats one of a kind that you could never get any where else.

Both Dave Murray and Adrian Smith from Iron Maiden play Fender Stratocaster...

Fender for sure, I've never liked any gibson as much as a Strat. Not to mention that Fender would likely also make you some Jacksons as well.
