Hello UG metal forum. Some of you know me, most of you don't - but according to my profile I'm South African and something of a metalhead.
Here in this country, we have a small but loyal metal scene which is unfortunately polluted with a lot of Trivium rip-off bands, but amongst them I like to think we have a few gems. Unfortunately alternative music isn't very big here and recording full length albums can be very difficult for struggling bands playing the same venue for months at a time (I've been there). Anyway, here are a few of my favourite local acts, and also some of the more popular ones - I'd really like to know what the metal forum thinks of SA Metal:

...and Chaos www.myspace.com/andchaos (my band - groove metal)

Agro www.myspace.com/agrosa (classic metal - probably the most succesful South African metal band)

Architecture Of Aggression (AOA) http://www.myspace.com/aoa666 (death metal)

All Forlorn http://www.myspace.com/allforlornband (death metal [give the track st. anthony's fire a listen])

Contrast the Water http://www.myspace.com/contrastthewater (groove metal -playing Europe soon)

Deane Crescent http://www.myspace.com/deanecrescent (brutal death metal)

Deity's Muse http://www.myspace.com/deitysmuse (More hard rock than metal, but still cool)

Elegy http://www.myspace.com/elegytheband (thrash)

Erebus http://www.myspace.com/erebussouthafrica (black metal - busy working on an album)

K.O.B.U.S http://www.myspace.com/swaarmetaal (thrash metal - sung in Afrikaans)

Pragmatic Death Protocol http://www.myspace.com/pragmaticdeathprotocol (technical death metal)

Selfmoord http://www.myspace.com/selfmoordband (death metal)

Warthane http://www.myspace.com/warthaneband (death/thrash metal)

There are a lot more bands here, but these are just the ones i could think of at the moment. I'll try update this list periodically - feel free to message me if you know of a band I should add.
