I'm not a vyper fan or VT for that matterCube 30's are good in my opinion and so are Vox DA 20's, but for $100 i'll stick with my original thought.

You CAN play anything with anything....but some guitars sound right for some things, and not for others. Single coils sound retarded for metal, though those who are apeshit about harpsichord probably beg to differ.

I'd get a Vox Tonelab, Digitech RP500, or a Line 6 POD XT....and a good pair of headphones over any of those amps.

Flame me if you want, but I like my spider a lot, contrary to popular perception, it is possible to get good tones out of it. I got an awesome post-thrash tone in the insane channel, and a lovely, Satriani-esque lead tone in the Crunch channel with delay and the inbuilt distortion boost.
Ibanez Saber Series Owner!

Don't jump on the bandwagon, Line 6 Spider III's Aren't that bad!
