For the past two days within my house (including my basement) i have encountered these BIG ASS spider things that can jump like crickets and then some.

Has anyone experienced these bugs before and or knows what they are?

I don't have pictures because they don't stay in one spot for me to capture it on film.

Acutally, no, they're not scary.

They're just crickets, TS, nothing to fear. We have them in our house sometimes and they're harmless. Just catch them and release them outdoors.

They won't crawl on your face, silly.

They're Cave Crickets. They can jump six feet into the air OVER TOP of your face.

maybe we should do some testing then. if TS would kindly step into lab with one of the crickets, we could record what happens.

Definitely cave crickets. Probably coming from a cool, damp crawlspace. We had them when we first moved into our house. Nothing you can do really because its nearly impossible to keep bugs from coming into your house...and its hard to treat for them especially if you have pets. We didn't have the problem for long...it seemed like it was only with the change of seasons. But that pic on the first page is definitely a cave cricket I used to work in an entomological museum in college

They are called Spickets (Spider + Cricket). They are actually really common, and completely harmless.

They kind of remind me of these weird hybrid cockroach moths that I keep seeing around my place in summer. Creepy bastards just sit there looking mildly cockroach like. Hate roaches.

Unless you've been eating popcorn, in which case they may eat your lips while you sleep.
