So I've decided to get into bass playing, and recently got an amazing deal on a 98 Fender Jazz bass (MIM) for $200. It is in great shape.

Anyway, I'm looking for opinions on budget amps. I was thinking $200 or less.

And yes, I looked at the FAQ but I would like more opinions.

I like my Line 6 LowDown 15. I'm only an occasional bassist though.

i like the lowdowns, even though some people hate them. However they are pricey for the volume they put out.

I say just try all the amps in the store and get the best one you can afford.

DBZ guitars, love'em. Especially their Les Piccolo model.

Acoustic and Ashdown are the budget standards in many cases.

I find the Line 6 models to be a little sterile on the ear and gimmicky. but, it will last longer than a Behringer, which you should avoid at any price.

I wouldn't call what we have here on the Bass Forum a mentality. It's more like the sharing part of an AA meeting.

Thanks for the suggestions guys.

I'm looking at these two. I know you get what you pay for, but I really don't need much volume at all. Anyone have any experience with these amps?

EDIT: To me, the Peavy is the better choice because it has a gain knob, and 5 more watts. I'm not familiar with bass amps or Acoustic, so maybe that's not right, I'm not sure.

Are you using it playing with other people or just as a bedroom amp, if it's the second one, go for either one, they are great.

Mainly a bedroom amp, but if I play with people they will have acoustics. I'm pretty sure they could handle that.
