that people accused, tried, and found guilty of crimes get free housing, health care, food, and clothing? Prison sounds like the best deal and it highlights how f*cked up society today is. I just cant contemplate why people that don't get arrested have to pay for criminals stuff via taxes. Thoughts?
EDIT: Since no one can at all understand what I was trying to say, disregard everything I said except for prisoners getting free health care. They have first rate healthcare that law abiding citizenz pay for. And for poor and homeless people, doesn't prison seem like a good deal? I'm not talking about maximum security, raped by murderers jail, I'm talking about minimum security prisons.

Yeah, I'd love to live in a ****ty cell well a bunch of convicts, have little to no social life, never see my family and friends, eat crap food, and do nothing for the rest of my life.

I won't even have to pay for the crap cell I'm living in!!! I'll never have to work another day in my life.

Okay so it's not luxury but they do get first rate healthcare at no cost. And if anything, why do law abiding people have to pay for it.

Because I don't want them to die? That would be selfish and ****ing evil. You might as well just kill them to begin with if you're not going to help them when they're dying.

edit: and I might be wrong, but don't prisoners do a lot of work?

its not about punishing them its about reforming them

Personally, I think the prison system is an awful form of punishment because time isn't something you can give back. Even a year in prison, doing the same thing every day and not contributing to society, is an awful fate. Think about it, a year is a ridiculously long time. Some might say it seems insignificant in the grand scheme if you live to be 70, but I feel that every year of your life is important in one way or another. Think of how different you are compared to a year ago. Things you know that you didn't know before, habits you've formed or repressed, people you've met, experiences you've had. I feel strongly that no one has the right to just lock a person away and rob them of those things. You can't give time back. It's gone forever once it's passed.

Obviously, the problem is, what would we replace prison with? Criminals still need to be punished, and I can't really think of a viable replacement for prison...

Otherwise it wouldn't get paid for? Also, there are fines for crimes, and there is a bail system. Who do you expect to pay for this? The prisoners also have jobs for below minimum wage which makes the prison system money.

So don't give them health care. Or give them no more than a poor person walking into a hospital would get. And don't make me pay for it because they had a chance at doing the right thing and they blew it.

Yes, because first rate healthcare is worth horrible anal rape.

Just imagine it.

Unlubricated and forceful. It's gonna be very dry, very long, and very hard. Your asshole is probably gonna bleed for days. Did I mention the various STDs that you're gonna get? Don't worry, that will all be treated since you have first rate healthcare.

Except the herpes. That shit stays with you forever.

Did your anus just clench? I hope it did.

I disagree, i think locking somebody up is the perfect punishment. I guess you just have to be a victim of crime to understand why

Wow you found a slight flaw in our society
If we lock them up we have to give them healthcare?

Also, the healthcare they get is first rate on paper, but the doctors don't really give a **** because they're getting paid less for the job, and generally don't think highly of the patients. They only get procedures they absolutely need. It isn't like they are given the best doctors in the world.

Have you seen what they give them? It's better than someone without money off the street can get in a hospital. So it's not first rate but it's far better than you should be able to get for free. And they spare no expense to do whatever they can to keep those people alive.

Prison is a bad idea full stop. The point should be to make sure people don't do crime again. In the UK where i live the reoffend rate is 80%. Even if it were 50% it would be way too high but 80 is pathetic. The real issue is why are we not using the prison time to educate and reform these people whilst they're inside instead of letting them get bored and frustrated?
#33
My friend said in Norway you are paid for being in prison....

That's stupider...

But really, I have no problem with people being in prison as long as it's as boring and pointless as possible.

I don't think people should get tvs or any of that kind of stuff, so it is a little bit better than they deserve, but the only way it could be really bad is if they didn't have to go or it was just like normal life just within walls.

Yeah Prison isn't as bad as it should be, but it's not top notch.

And what other people said about Butt rape... that would suck. I like my butt thankyouverymuch.

EDIT:

This..

Why should someone have to spend their WHOLE LIFE in prison.
I know some crimes deserve punishments worse than that but shouldn't there be a better way to punish these people than to strip them of everything they have.
Some people that commit crimes are just mentally unstable and they can't control some of the things they do.
Is it right to lock these people away for their whole lives for being flawed?
#39
Well. What are we supposed to do with criminals? Do you have a better idea?
Anyway-I think prison is a terrible punishment

So.. Prisoners get better health care than homeless people.

In a democracy, everyone's supposed to get free health care.

I've stated my point.
