Can someone basically explain what it is?

My guess is that it is copying the wiring/circuit components of an amp, to get the same sound for a lot cheaper price?

Google failed me.

You're not truly playing guitar unless you know theory.

Do they sound 100% the same?

They're never gonna be 100%...different capacitors, different resistors, different orientation of Venus to Mars, etc, etc. Current production tubes sound different too.

On the whole, they'd be a LOT better than some pedal or FX unit that's supposed to make the tone though.

I'm after a Peavey 6505+, but they're really expensive.

I was wondering wether it would be an idea to get a clone built?

But would that also cost loads?

Take a look at Bugera, I'm pretty sure the 6262 is a copy of the 6505+.

Ahhh. Yeah, that would. More than a 6505+ most likely. Clones are for replicating older amps that (usually) have no transistors, PCBs etc.

It's when you take the nucleus from an adult Amp cell, transfer it to the developing egg cell of the new amp that has had its nucleus removed, stimulate the hybrid cell with electric shock, so it divides until it evolves into a blastocyst that can then be implanted in a surrogate tech.

9 months later and a Ceriatone is born.

...and randall did some **** with a modular cloning amp or something not too long ago. not really sure wtf's up with it, if it's good/sucks, as i haven't been in the market for an amp in a while. from what i gather, you can select units that sound like whatever amp and combine your favs, ie. a Bogner ecstacy clean with a, idk, mesa rec drive channel.
