I'm sure this has been posted a million times so don't bite my head off.

I am currently looking at getting a new head. Just wondering what some opinions on these would be.

I am between these at the time. I know I should be trying them out but unfortunately a couple are not all that easy to come by as most music stores near me do not carry them.

JVM 410h

Framus Cobra

Splawn Nitro or Quickrod

My first choice right now is a JVM but my only worry is reliability. Anybody have any experience with these?

The Framus I could find on ebay or something for a decent price but what if something goes wrong with it? The closest place that deals in these is over 2000 miles from where I live.

Any advice is appreciated.

IMO, the JVM series is completely overrated and overpriced, as are most NEW marshalls these days.

Have you considered Orange amps? A Rockerverb 50 falls right in your price range, and would probably suit you perfectly, based on the other amps you listed. Plus it looks damn good.

But, of the 3 (considering I've never played the Framus), I'd say go for the nitro.
GAS LIST

Z.Vex SHO
AnalogMan Stereo Chorus
Barber Tone Press
Way Huge Supa Puss

ENGL Fireball:

Framus Dragon. I owned this for a while and I thought it was a briliant amp, but sounded crap at low volumes. It's better than the Cobra in my eyes. The Cobra had too much of a mid-scoop.

Laney VH100R. If you are interested in a nice balance of tone, and a British whispy crunch, this is ideal.
http://cgi.ebay.com/NEW-Laney-VH100R-100-Watt-Tube-Guitar-Amp-Head-FREE-S-H_W0QQitemZ390067219187QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_0?hash=item5ad1d16af3&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=65%3A12|66%3A4|39%3A1|72%3A1205|293%3A1|294%3A200

One of the better Peavey's.
http://cgi.ebay.com/Peavey-JSX-Guitar-Amplifier-Head-Joe-Satriani-Amp_W0QQitemZ150357727566QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_0?hash=item230204d94e&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=65%3A12%7C66%3A4%7C39%3A1%7C72%3A1205%7C293%3A1%7C294%3A200

The JVM series is overpriced in the States.

You can also wait until one of these goes online for cheaper.
http://cgi.ebay.com/Hughes-Kettner-TRILOGY-100W-Tube-Amp-Head-B_W0QQitemZ310145045387QQcmdZViewItemQQptZLH_DefaultDomain_0?hash=item483615d38b&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=65%3A12%7C66%3A4%7C39%3A1%7C72%3A1205%7C293%3A1%7C294%3A200

This is a little overly compressed for my tastes, but other than that, it is a well balanced, highly saturated amp.

I have yet to try this, but I really, really want to; it's supposed to be fantastic.

You could probably find a repair shop that will fix anything that goes wrong for you...

Look for a used JCM2000 maybe?

No thanks on the new guitar. I have bought 3 of them in the last couple years. There is a guy in Minneapolis that is selling a JVM and said he would part with the head for $1,300.

That's why it's the number one choice right now... Availability. I forgot to mention Krank's. These seem to be for sale quite a bit on Ebay also.

I will most likely be buying a Marshall 1960BV.

invest your self on a Mills or a Splawn, they are top, high quality cabs

and go with either one on my list
and Kranks are good too but you must learn how to tweek it and use the sweep knob before you get desirable tones

and also look at the Diamond Nitrox/ Phantom
