Hello,
I was browsing through Craigslist earlier,
and found what seemed to be a good deal.
200 dollars for an all tube Crate V33 head.
I am in a band that plays shows,
and if you look at my sig, you can tell that my current amp is complete shi t
I was wondering if this amp is good for playing small venues.

[quote="'[BurnTheDusk"]']Boss pedals may be built like tanks but I would rather buy a cardboard box that is on my side than pay for a tank that is working against me.

I have had very little experience with Crate, but I've heard a few nice things about the V series. 33 watts is ample for gigging. Even larger shows will offer you the option to mic the amp up into their PA system.

Ah, that's the answer I was looking for.
Thanks guys.

Depends on what genres your band plays...the V-series are great amps...but aren't great for metal without a boost.

I know that they aren't the best for metal, but I heard with a good dist/overdrive they can sound pretty good.
How would the Ibanez Tube Screamer sound with it?
Or should i just keep my metal muff for that?

The Tubescreamer really is more of a boost. It drives the volume and slightly distorts the signal by clipping the wave-forms and pushing the valves harder. You won't reach heavy metal levels of saturation, but you will tighten the tone up.
The Metal Muff is more of a distortion pedal in that it creates 'fake' distortion. Using them both in conjunction is an idea.
