Bush - Razorblade Suitcase
Weezer - Pinkerton
Smashing Pumpkins - Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness
Goo Goo Dolls - Gutterflower
Nirvana - In Utero

strange they all have either a depressing feel and/or lyrics to them...

In the summer I listen to Brand New and then in the Winter I listen to Brand New.

And then the rest of the time I listen to Thrice.

Or watch the things you gave your life to, broken,
And stoop and build 'em up with worn-out tools

I wouldn't really consider Pinkerton depressing.

The lyrical content of it, plus it's considered the first emo album of the 90's

Mainly just the lyrics. The whole album is pretty upbeat for the most part.
I can honestly say I have really been far even as decided to use even go want to do look more like.

I don't always post on UG, but when I do, I post in the Pit. Stay thirsty my friends.

I just never found it too depressing I guess. I love Weezer.

I tend to dig out my older stuff for summer. AC/DC, Alice Cooper, Quiet Riot, Iron Maiden, Sum 41, etc. Things that I listened to in high school. The Scorpions too, but I listen to them year round.

First mainstream emo album of the '90s.
and even then, Pinkerton was a critical failure (it's a great album, though.)
Emo was in existence for a lot longer.

To be ontopic, my music taste doesn't really change for the Summer, I just listen to music a lot more and probably listen to just a wee bit more pop punk, grunge, alternative rock, and indie pop, in contrast to the fact that I tend to listen to metal, post-hardcore, punk, rap, and less happier genres in the winter.

That being said, a lot of my Summer music isn't happy, either.

"Summer breeze, makes me feel fine
Blowing through the jasmine in my mind"

One Sexy Canadian Man.
