This is something I do want to learn but I'm not really sure about where to start other than basic sweeping and tapping.

Yeah, if you want to learn sweep tapping and multiple finger tapping then you do need to learn the basics of tapping and sweeping and get those right first. Remember to take things slowly to start off with and build speed up once you have those basics down.

If you can sweep and tap well then sweep tapping shouldn't be too much of a problem for you seen as it is just the two techniques combined really. The only thing that might cause you some difficulty is after you tapped the notes, it then throws your right hand off line and you have to get it back for the sweep back down quickly, and this can sometimes really throw you off balance, as it did for me when I first learned this technique.

As for multi-finger tapping, this will take real time and effort to learn and master. I'm grade 8 and have been playing 6 or so years and still haven't got this technique fully mastered, I only know some basic/intermediate licks. So don't get disheartend if it doesn't fall into place first time. Start slowly again, there is no shame in taking things really, really slowly first up, you'll be suprised at how quickly you can speed things like this up once you have got it at a slow speed, but only increase it in small steps, no more then 10bmp a time should suffice.

Here are a few lessons I have recommended to almost everyone who has asked about sweeping and tapping techniques:
