A "tubescreamer" is a person paid by a guitarist to stand behind the amp and scream at the tubes. This terrifies the tubes into overdriving and delivers a thick, harmonic-rich tone.

triple J is the ultimate in radio stations.....

its cool cause they just play music... and not necessarily whats ''in''

one time i was listening and i heard a techno song, then raining blood, then a chilled out acoustic song

good times!

I really like the list, It had a bit of mix up of genres, some old stuff some new stuff. I am a little devo there was no Neil Young, but other than that no real complaints. And I hate hip hop, but was really happy that Hilltop was in there.

Jeff Buckley was a surprise I didnt think he would feature as much as he did, but top 3 especially are great songs from bands that did huge things. So yeah. Thats my 2c.

Oh except where the hell are all the female vocals?

i was disappointed by smells like teen spirit, its good and all but c'mon. killing in the name of was unexpectedly awesome
#15
I dont understand how Nirvana has the top song of all time, yeah that were ****ing awesome..but still.
#17
I got a bit disheartened when top songs got beaten by others, but then I got reminded it was the hottest 100 meaning most popular songs...rather than the best songs of all time...

NO FEMALE ARTIST WAS IN THE HOTTEST 100 OF ALL TIME. That was quite disappointing seeing Nirvana win and the hill top hoods beat the muse, that shows you what the masses actually believe is good enough to be in the hottest 100 of all time.
I may not have a brain, gentlemen, but I have an idea...

ITT: "Why wasn't *SONG THAT I LIKE* in there but *SONG THAT I HATE* was?!"

These threads are annoying. Always ends up in flaming and such.

Trust me man, it's Smoke on the Water. Deep Purple only wrote one song.

Correct me if I'm mistaken but wasn't this list voted by the masses?

20. White Stripes - Seven Nation Army
29. Pixies - Where Is My Mind?
35. Smashing Pumpkins - 1979
51. Smashing Pumpkins - Bullet With Butterfly Wings
78. Smashing Pumpkins - Today

Five entries with women in the lineup, maybe you should get your facts straight before you whinge... though I do agree some female vocalists would have been nice!

When I said "NO FEMALE ARTIST WAS IN THE HOTTEST 100 OF ALL TIME" I meant as in single female solo artist not females that are in a band and I should have been more specific.

Well Mr. Pringle, you should have made that clear.

I think there were some pretty good songs in there, and it was great hearing some of said songs coming through the radio instead of my computer/iPod for once.

All I'd add is that it was a great list, but perhaps not in the right order.
#36
Yeah I know what you mean... though when you think about it, when making these lists it is mainly white males that appear, which is a shame!

I would have expected Eskimo Joe and Elvis in there though hey? What females would you have expected to see in there?

Boy George, Marilyn Manson?

LOL j/k. When did Manson become music.

Great Gig in the Sky - Pink Floyd would have been cool, that has female vocals. Other than that I cant think of anything.

I don't exactly like Lily Allen but I expected her to be in it, Aretha Franklin should have mad an appearance, Nena with 99 Luftballons and a few other female artists. I also thought eskimo joe and elvis would have at least one song but no.

i think eskimo joe are a more "mainstream" band now.
and elvis isnt the triple j kinda bloke.
i think it was more the 9 to 5 listen ers who voted not the specialist show listeners

hm, it's actually one of the better lists I've seen. at least it has some diversity in there, I mean of course most of it is pretty mainstream, but at least it's not just what's popular right now. Was really surprised to see All Along the Watchtower in there, and Tool's 46&2.
