How much you would reckon these are worth nowadays? I have one in my sights I could get. I'm really drooling again...

And just about anything else you want to share about this beauty, please share.

Ugly?

I think it's superb. And I don't know about their prices at all, that's why I'm asking.

I love the guitar, it looks great, I have no idea what price it is though.

Make an EPIC NGD when you get it, take like, 20 pictures of it, there isn't much good porn around lately.

Their worth depends heavily on the condition, and your market. The one in the pic you linked could easily be worth over a grand, but I'd wager none of them survived in this condition to this day.

Keep in mind that the trem is a bit useless, difficult to maintain, and impossible to find parts for (since it's a hard rocker in gold, of all things), and the gold finish on most of these is hopelessly faded by now.

Thanks. The one I have my eyes one has recently gone through full mainentance (replaced frets & electronics), and looks quite nice too. The tremolo arm is missing though, but that's easily replaced and I don't really plan using the tremolo too much anyway.

I'll have to play it first, so well see how it all goes down.

Electronics would be the first thing I'd do to them. Stock switchgear on old Ibanez guitars doesn't tend to age too well. As for the tremolo arm, I believe that any Edge/LoPro/Edge Pro arm will fit the Hard Rocker.

Yes, I thought as well too. The guy selling it had changed every bit of the electronics besides the pickups themselves with some quality components. I might look in to fitting a whole different bridge to it, or maybe fiddle with the pickups.

Any info on the different models? The one I'm looking at has matching finish headstock, and the output jack is on the side, both details unlike in any other I've seen, where headstock is plain maple one and the ouput jack is on the top of it. I know it's made in Japan in '84.

I think it's the 84-85 difference. 84, you get non-locking hard rocker bridge along with jack on the front and maple headstock, and in 85 you get double locking pro rocker and black headstock, jack moved to the side like on the 85 Roadstar models.

Ah, so it might indeed be an '85 model then. Sure look's more like that. But wasn't this first produced in '83? So maybe it's 83-84 difference you're talking about? Because the owner says it's from 1984.

If memory serves, 83 and 84 are the same. The black headstock SL has a locking bridge, and that unit wasn't available before 85, although don't take my word for gospel. The guitar could potentially have an 84 serial despite being an 85 model.
