So I'm adding something to my band's myspace page, and the guy who usually does the html is away, so i need you guys to help an HTML noob.

Heres the image i want to put in:

I want to put two links in the image, one to the itunes store page and one to the amazon mp3 page.

i want the itunes link to be this big:

And the Amazon link to be this big:

Here are the links to the Itunes and Amazon MP3 thing
Itunes
Amazon

So if anyone can give me the code or at least point me in the right direction, please help.

And NO, this was not sneaky advertising for my band.

Then I guess you have this album picture you want besides too? Try messing with tables or div frames. Tired to bother making the script

alright, i'll try this. I think i may have done something like this before and it didnt work, but i'm not so sure
#5
ok it didnt work.

I think the big problem is that i dont know how to make the separate links work for different parts of the image. If anyone knows how to do that, please help
#6
Got it...

div id="things"><div id="album"> <img src="album.jpg"></div>
<div id="itunes"><a href="http://ax.itunes.apple.com/WebObjects/MZStore.woa/wa/browserRedirect?url=itms%253A%252F%252Fax.itunes.apple.com%252FWebObjects%252FMZStore.woa%252Fwa%252FviewAlbum%253Fid%253D319871846%2526s%253D143441"><img src="itunes.jpg" border="0" /></a>
<div id="amazon"><a href="http://www.amazon.com/The-Night-In-Flames-Explicit/dp/B002D3YK08/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&s=dmusic&qid=1244906618&sr=8-2" ><img src="amazon.jpg" border="0" /></a></div>
</div>

Then, put this in the <head>:

<style type="text/css">
<!--
#things {float: left;}
#album { float: left;}
#amazon { float: left;}
#itunes { float: left;}
}
-->
</style>

EDIT: Forgot the links

Normal HTML documents are built up by these "walls":

<HTML>
<HEAD>
<TITLE> </TITLE>
</HEAD>

<BODY> </BODY>
</HTML>

The usual stuff, like pictures and text falls in the "Body" category. Other stuff like the color of the page, some tables layout etc usually gets in "head" or in a separate .css document.

The "album****.jpg" is the name of the cute burning shoes I selected while I made the code. Just PM me if you want the files

You're gonna have to split this up into several images - the top part, the burning shoes and the 2 logos.

Then go as follows:

<table border="0">
<tr>
<td><img src="{header location}" /></td>
</tr>
<tr>
<td><img src="{shoes location}" /></td>
<td>
<table border="0">
<tr>
<td><a href="{link 1}"><img src="{logo 1 location}" /></a></td>
<td><a href="{link 2}"><img src="{logo 2 location}" /></a></td>
</tr>
</table>
</td>
</table>

Stick that wherever you want the stuff to appear (eg "About Us" box).

PM me for more help, I've only ever edited one myspace page and it was a **** to figure out...
#12
wait why would i need to split up the burning shoes and the rest? cant i just have it something like this:

?

and then plug the two other "buttons" in?
#13
Technically no, because if you add another image after the above image they will, well come after it. HTML's like that.

You can stick them on top using CSS, but it's tricky, especially on myspace. I wouldn't try it myself.
#14
ok so i made the separate images:

if thats what you meant. So i would plug each of those photobucket URLs in the "image location" thing, right?

edit: The pics dont work, they come up as little boxes with a red dot in them....

ok so i'll try out an image map. But google gives me tons of different ways to do it. Any suggested tutorials? They seem a little long to have to go through trial and error to see which one works.

And thanks ShaunDiel

Image map hands-on practice. Within the <IMG> tag, you'll use the attribute "Usemap" to assign a map to the image. Then, within the <MAP> tag, you set which regions are clickable and stuff. I'd recommend opening the original image in Paint first and drawing boxes/circles around the regions you want to be links, so you can easily get the coordinates.

^just tried that. And it worked perfectly on the W3 site. However, when i copy/paste it into Myspace, it just comes out as a normal image with no links.
#22
Hm. It's possible that MySpace doesn't allow imaps then...

Myspace is a nuisance. It doesn't even allow you to edit the page properly - if you want a customised page you have to block out the original page with your own. Nuisance.
