I'd quite like to be able to play the solo in the song Freebird or Guns n Roses Paradise City solo, but I can't get my head around the fast bits

Iv'e learnt to play Snow by RHCP so I'm on my way

Your thoughts people?

pretty much anything neoclassical shred. I can't sweep well at all, and the entire genre is pretty much over my head. I can play stuff like maiden, queen, ac/dc and classic rock pretty well, but I can't quite reach the next step of shredding, I really need to take lessons again

That's just insane! I'd do anything to be able to play like that!

Rob Marcello is amazing. First time I heard Danger Danger, I didn't believe my ears

Yeah that would be an epic song to be able to pull off. The bass line is cool too

YYZ I can manage, that song is AMAZING to jam with a band with.

Oblivion from Mastdon I got the song down it's just no one tabbed the solo out yet.
#23
I know it's not exactly a hard one but I'd love to be able to play Since I've Been Loving You. I started playing about a year ago and I just can't do the fast part of the solo.

The entire Buckethead discography.
it's all just coming back
it's all coming back

it's all coming back to me

I wish I can play Get Out of My Yard, especially the intro. I don't have a double neck, but I can't do the sweeping method either because I suck.

I can't play many solos yet, so i'd have to say a lot of solos!

But I'm working on some stuff from mettalica, (trying,) and some old GnR solos.

I'm also learning the easier parts of 'canon rock' as done by jerryC.

I used to love the really fast neo classical stuff like the links above, but now it's all the same to me. I don't know what happened O_O. Paul Gilbert still really appeals to me though, stuff like the echo song and the curse of castle dragon are just plain AWESOME to me.

Things I'd like to play... A lot of Opeth songs come to mind, that really don't look that difficult: Deliverance, Masters Apprentices, Heir Apparent, In the Mist She was standing, Windowpane, In my Time of Need (how bout the whole damnation album).

I went through that phase (or at least it was only a phase for me ). Then I learned theory and my ear became quicker and it changed my world. Now I understand what I am hearing and it brings it to a whole new emotional level.

The parts that aren't sweep picking or fast soloing aren't that hard, actually.

Eugene's Trick Bag.
At that point I'll feel like I've "made it" as a guitarist, or at least in the eyes of my singer.
In my eyes I won't have "made it" as a guitarist until I can play the Wonderful Slippery Thing lick.
How he does that, nobody knows. The mind boggles.

As for things I'd like to play purely for the song, it'd have to be Crushing Day. Such a dynamic tune, but not exxageratedly so.

I can't really play that well. I'm not that good of a guitarist, but I'm much more into ... slow stuff, like really heavy metal for that slow headbang, and I also love funky-ish style riffs
#37
Some really fast sweeping riffs, I don't understand why I can't sweep. I just can't

"Words" end solo by a2c: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ghl7M83Bx9I
Trying to learn... Much harder than I though it would be.
