Ok, this forum needs a new What Songs thread. Right now there are 4 or 5 threads asking for recommendations on songs for different occasions, and the old rec thread is really not helping anymore; we need a fresh breath of air here.

Please inform me if I'm the only delusional person that thinks like this here.

I believe the old "Official What Songs Thread" is pretty sufficient. I'd suggest sending Jimtaka some suggestions if you'd like him to add to it. There's no reason to remove it and get rid of what's already there. If only readers would notice it before they make a new thread.

Edit: Also, there is no way to avoid the occasional "I need a song that has two acoustics, three girls singing, a penny whistle, and an orchestra of spoon players for my step-niece's wedding" threads. I suppose we may just need to deal and give as good recommendations as we can.

More songs is definitely what it needs. The thread is fine. Bring on the suggestions.

I wasn't saying the old thread wasn't well organized; on the contrary, I just realized there are categories that have no songs.

Also, Rodney Rocket's List ----->+1.

So we just name songs here and you add them accordingly right?

Depressing songs category :P
Deep Purple - Soldier Of Fortune
Opeth - Hope Leaves, Windowpane, Face of Melinda, Patterns in the Ivy, Still Day Beneath the Sun.
Lifehouse - Broken
Audioslave - Be yourself
James Blunt - Tears and Rain, Same Mistake, Carry you Home.

...And I can't believe no one said this.
Chris Cornell/Soundgarden - Black Hole Sun.

Intermediate Songs - The General by Dispatch

I'll never get tired of that song. I've been playing it for years and it still holds up - people really enjoy it.

Get some greenday up there like Wake me up when Septemeber ends.
& Some Taylor Swift or Country Music (I'm obessed.)

& LOL! I was gonna make a new 'What Songs' Thread but then my auntie deleted it by closing the page when I went the chippy so I gave up lol.

Oh & A good idea would be to attach links to the correct tab for new players & lazy players (aka. Me!)

Well if you want all of the UG users to miss out on some of the best acoustic songs of all time don't put them on your list Ill be at home playing them it will be the people on your site who come searching your very small list that miss out so whatever. I have better things to do with my time like playing guitar.
