EMG includes a cap with their pickups. also, 2 height adjustment screws, springs, an output jack with battery clip, and 2 pots. The cap is prewired to the pots.

If you didn't get all those things, your pickup probably wasn't new.

my package came in a nice plastic sealed box with all the stuff mentioned above except the pots were not connected by the cap but the bottom each pot was labeled for volume and tone
#5

The H should have all the same stuff as an 81, 85, 89, etc.

Contact EMG and ask why they didn't include the tone caps.
READ the instructions first. Maybe there's some info there that explains.

yeah i went to emgs website and under all the pickups there are online instruction manuals and there are separate for solderless and soldered pickups and the soldered manual shows a tone cap but the new solderless one doesnt show a tone cap so idk
#9
IDK, maybe they have the tone caps internal to the tone pots.
Sounds odd, but possible.
Or they just screwed up.
Get the story straight from the horse's mouth. Send them an email.

got the final word from emg themselves if you get pickups without the new quick connect solderless system then you will need a .1 uf cap but if your pickup comes with the new solderless system then no cap is needed
#11
hmmm. then the cap is either internal to the tone pot or in the harness.

could you post pics of the parts, please?

I'm quite interested at the prospect of an internalized tone pot.

yup they look completely different from my pots, so ima go ahead and say those are solderless. it's like a two way quik connect, so it's awesomely easy, but i like the smell of solder so it fails!

I'm just not a fan of molten lead in general.

Sawdust is a completely different story however. (Mmmmm, Maple )

aw dude molten lead smells awesome. That's a big reason I look forward to small mods and projects and stuff. Sawdust is good, but burning sawdust is great.
