found a fender teleacoustic broken beyond repair- has a fishman classic 4 pick-up with no noticable damage that i want to throw in my washburn- problem is when amped up im getting noise from the sheiled coaxial cable when i run my fingers across it but when i dip the cable in the guitar sound hole its not picking up. i dont know that much about pickups and any advise would be appreciated thank you for the help
Sounds like your shielding for the cable isn't properly grounded. It could be a bad solder joint to ground but it could also be a bad connection within the pickup or a short in the pickups lead. Whatever it is, what is intended to be shielding isn't grounded and therefore isn't working.
