I'm by no means a great guitarist but I just thought of something pretty helpful for people trying to remember keys and scales. Think of it like this memorize a scale pattern and if say you want the first degree chord for the scale obviously start at the root note. Second degree omit the first note of the scale and pretend the second note is the first. For 3rd degree chord omit the 2nd note of the scale and so on. This may just be common sense but maby someone might find it helpful.

this is almost the same principal as modes. but it can be a good way to look at it if your not familiar with them.
That won't help you too much with knowing the note names all over the fretboard though.
