I sometimes find myself woundering around the internet whenever I'm bored looking for something interesting but somewhat educational (so I don't waste too much of my time) to read or see so I've decided to make this thread, since there are probably more people like me on UG. The idea of this thread is this:

Post an interesting article, video, movie, documentary, etc. Anything that you think is interesting to watch, read and discuss but for every link you post, you have to give a preview of what it talks about.

I'll start with:

-Century of a Self:
"This documentary series is about how those in power have used Freud's theories to try and control the dangerous crowd in an age of mass democracy."

-Project MKULTRA:
MKULTRA was a code name for a mind-control and chemical interrogation program.

-Lucid Dreams on Discovery Channel
A video on lucid dreaming (being conscious while dreaming) from discovery channel

Now...post and discuss!

Cool. These always depress the hell out of me. But are as cool as hell. Well not the art one but you get the idea.

Book:
Transcendence of the Western Mind

"Due to fundamental assumptions regarding space, time, and mother, western Metaphysics is unable to provide a sound basis for western physics. Transcendence of the Western Mind provides a new metaphysic that explains modern physics and also provides a broader understanding of the human environment on Earth."

Have you started reading the book?...anyways, I've started reading it and I've liked it but I don't know too much of that topic so tell me if the book has any mistakes, misconceptions, etc

I would rather make a thread for this, but I guess it will go nicely in here:

Joseph Campbell's The Power of Myth series.

Part 1 - The Hero's Adventure: http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=-229174233784865359&hl=en
Part 2 - The Message of the Myth: http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=7315339866399210257&hl=en
Part 3 - The First Storytellers: http://www.guba.com/watch/2000811750
Part 4 - Sacrifice and Bliss: http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=1840374380708815162&ei=XSVdSsPmBJHyqAPT6KkS&q=the+power+of+myth&hl=en
Part 5 - Love and the Goddess: http://www.guba.com/watch/2000813145
Part 6 - Masks of Eternity: http://www.guba.com/watch/2000815919

I just took the effort to find these videos, 6 parts in all. Please watch them in full. They are one hour each, and what you will walk away with after watching each hour will be so fulfilling and wonderful. I watched this series six years ago, and it changed my life. I was always inspired by world religion, mythology, and tradition, and this gave me an insight into how connected we all are, and what it means to live and experience a myth. I hope each of you will take the time to watch each of these wonderful conversations.
