Today was my new amp day.

I got the call that my B-52 AT112 had arrived at my aunt's house around 4 and went to get it at about 6. I get there, plug it up, turn it on, and...

...nothing. No lights, no glowing tubes, no white noise, no smoke, nothing.

I called MF and it's going to take two weeks to get it replaced. I'm pissed.

Anyone else have similar experiences?

I AM pissed as hell. I've been saving money for a god damn year to buy this thing and now it doesn't work. The biggest purchase of my entire life thus far was a dud and must be sent back.

I'm just making it worse with all this ranting.

that happened when i bought my crate.

except mine had the lovely sound of broken glass and the transformer was bouncing around the inside.

i just fixed it myself, called MF, and they sent me all new tubes for free.

Have you checked the fuse? It sounds simple but you never know.

Yerp, we checked the fuse and the power cable with a multimeter.

I have my uncle trying to tighten the power tubes ATM but I'm not optimistic.

There is a AC INLET & PRIMARY FUSE and a POWER TUBE FUSE. I assume if no power though that it would be the ac fuse. Good luck.
#9
does it have a stand-by switch that maybe was on? happened to me when i first played on a tube amp at guitarcenter. turned it on, everything hooked up, no sound. didn't know what the hell was going on, until i notices the standby switch. thought to myself "you moron."

...there are two fuses? Where's the other one located?

The other one is in the little plastic covering where you plug in the power supply... it slides out.

even if the standby was on, the tubes would still light up....

Head and Cab for $130? You don't need a head and cabinet, you need a psychological examination.

UPDATE: My amp is saved!!!

My uncle found that other fuse and tested it and it's BLOWN! I'm so happy!

Now I can just go buy a replacement fuse! I don't have to wait for Snail Mail to get my amp to and fro!

A POSITIVE N.A.D. Thread awaits you all tomorrow!

Nice, a blown fuse can mean other trouble though, depends why it blew. Hopefully its ok.

Well, the amp itself never turned on in my possession, which leads me to believe that it was dead from the get-go.

The amp didn't die on me, it was dead in the box.

Because it's been sitting in a warehouse for a year and a half with the capacitors totally drained. When it got plugged in the in rush of current popped the fuse. This is total conjecture but likely.
