i know compessors are generally used with clean tones and solos, but would one work for a distorted rhythm tone? i like the tone i get with my overdrive pedal into a clean amp, but my band has a few songs where im just strumming power chords like you would hear in "what i've done" by linkin park. (example- g#, b, f#, c#, using one chord to a measure) when i do that, my tone sounds a little dry and weak. would a compressor fix this, seeing that it would fill my tone out with a little extra sustain

OD is like a crappy compressor anyway, so you won't hear much of a difference.
