for a while me and a friend have been planning on starting a band, we were going to get some practices in over the summer
but when i called him today to see if he wanted to go skating, he said he had a band practice with two other people (basically hes formed a new band without saying anything), and they are basically doing EXACTLY what we planned to do!
do i have a right to be pissed off at him? is it going behind my back?

You should have asked him to practice instead of skating. Noob.

Form your own band, and make it a Metallica vs. Megadeth style debacle where the rejected guy goes out and makes a band to spite his former bandmates.

That should work.

If your guitar is spiky, go and beat him with it. If not, just beat with your fists. Or you could talk about it.

exactly what i was thinking when i first read this
#14
So? Ask him if they need another guitarist. Or, just deal with it; if he stills wants to have a band with you too, then he'll be all the more experienced at playing with a band.
#15
Have you guys stopped talking about forming a band or something?

Because this sounds like lack o' communication.

Because Dave Mustaine doesn't have ANY emotional baggage from getting ousted from Metallica .

Thats a great idea until the fact that one of the guys was never in a band to be kicked out in the first place.

This. Just be like "What happened to our band?"

Likely the answer will be something like "It never happened, but this one did." Since you obviously never formed up with Friend.

Perhaps you may have a right to be upset, but, if it was me in this situation, I would just say **** it, and continue learning and practicing my instrument, and trying to start up something else. Don't get your undies in a bundle, guy. There is no point to being angry. Don't you know that nothing matters?

Yup. Everyone wants two mediocre bands quibbling and provoking outrageous attacks by die-hard fans, rather than one decent band

You don't need a right in order to be angry. If you're angry, that's just how it is.

And maybe you're jumping to conclusions, you're friend might still be up for joining a band with you, and he knows two other musicians which you can get to know, too.
