For those of you who know more than one language, what language do you dream in? Is it always in your mother tongue? If you live in an area where you speak another language for a long time do you ever dream in that different language? Just curious, I'm only fluent in English.

Edit: Please tell what your mother tongue is when you post.

Do you really dream in a language, or do you attach words to the expressions of the dream upon waking? o_O!

If somebody from my family is in my dream, they'll speak in Russian. That was the language I first learned before English barged in and took over my tongue at the ripe old age of five.

Everything else is either in English, unintelligible sounds, or colours

I speak 3 languages; English is not my first language even though I dream and think in it. This is basically because I live in an English enviroment

I asked my friend (except, "What language do you think in.")

Her first language is Spanish and her second and third languages are English and Italian.

She thinks in Spanish when she's at home or with friends. She thinks in Italian when she's in Italian class. Sometimes she thinks in English with friends, but mainly if there are more English speaking friends than Spanish (she lives in South Florida, a lot of people are Latino/Hispanic/etc.)

When I talk to her on the phone, she thinks in English
...except when I make her talk in Spanish, I am so attracted to her accent either way.

My mother language is Filipino (Tagalog)... There are other several different dialects in our country but Tagalog is the official. I want to learn Romance languages like Spanish (though I know a fair bit because of the Spanish influence), also Italian, Japanese and my most favorite of all ... FRENCH... For me it is very sophisticated, classy, and artistic. I love the way how they pronounce and spell the words,
Don't hate me because I'm beautiful

Hate me because I am sleeping with your boyfriend.

I always dream in my mother tongue. I had a dream of British friend that speaks Filipino (Tagalog), lol and it was kinda weird. Sometimes I dream in English, but it is mixed with my native tongue.
