you can also check using the modules on the homepage.

Go to http://www.ultimate-guitar.com

click on the big green square with the + sign in it, to the left of the page near the top.
Click on "fun widgets" or something like that, and its called "criminal status".

click the criminal status widget and it'll tell you if you've been warned, and how long its active for etc.

this ^

In addition to the criminal status widget, there are other useful things, too.

But it IS important to read the e-mail notice if you've been warned.
The reason for the warning is given.
That will help you to not make the same mistake again.

Go to control panel
Click Edit Options
Be CERTAIN the box for "Receive Email from Administrators" has a checkmark in it.

If you're in doubt about where your UG email is being sent,
click on Edit Email & Password
Your present email address will be in the dialogue boxes.

Be sure to check your email regularly.
Sometimes UG correspondence gets redirected by your email server to your junk mail folder.

Cool.

Ever thought about starting a thread for regular users to post contributions for the FAQ?
They could write the text, and include screenshots that you could start with.
Then you could give them the Manda touch when blending them into the actual FAQ.

A lot of them, for sure.
Plus some people have their address pointed at an email account they don't currently use.
Or they don't check their junk mail folder...

i don't think a separate thread is necessary, it could easily be done in topics like this whenever they come up.

if you (or anyone else) wanted to compile a bit of info about checking warning/ban status and then post it here then that would be very helpful and i can use it in the FAQ

k, koo.

Using the Criminal Status widget:

This handy little widget gives you a small amount of info,
but that info can be very important to you.
It indicates your current status and the remaining time
on any active warning or ban you're currently serving.

As with all Widgets, it's on the UG main page.
Click the UltimateGuitar.com logo or the Guitar Tabs link at the top left of the page.
If you can't see the Green Square, close your browser's sidebar (if you're using it) or reduce the display size of your screen. Once you see the square, click on it:

Your screen expands vertically, and a new region appears: the Widget Menu.
Click on the selection for "Fun Widgets"

The widget on the left is Criminal Status.
Press and hold the left button on your mouse and drag the icon downward.

A new region appears on your screen.
This is where the Widgets you've selected will be active.
Drag the icon into any of the three windows then release the mouse button.

The Criminal Status widget will expand to fill the window.
This is what it looks like under normal conditions:

If you hover over the widget, you'll get a preview of the result of a warning.
In the preview, a reminder to follow the rules.

If you actually have a warning, the little inmate will look like this
but he'll be holding a sign that says "Hooligan".
Also, the number of days until the warning expires will be indicated on the upper right.

This is the picture you really don't want to see. Our little inmate is "On The Rocks".
See how sad and pale he is. Don't let this happen to you.
Fortunately for him, this is his first ban, so he only has 30 days until release.

When you have all the Widgets you plan to use in place, you can click the green square again and the Widget Menu collapses, leaving only the Active Widgets visible.
