You could get a used Gretsch.

Epi dot, idk if an artcore would go for less than 500 but maybe that
Xavieres are pretty good for the price, or so ive heard

You can probably find a used Epiphone Casino in that price range.

The Dot is a semi-hollowbody, while the Casino is a full hollowbody and has P90s (which I personally like more than humbuckers).

Ibanez Artcore

Seriously though, I have an Artcore and absolutely love it, couldn't be more pleased.

i played both the epiphone dot and ibanez artcore, and the artcore definitely came out on top. i've found epiphone to be an unreliable brand, but that's just my opinion.

Damn, beat me to it

I have a lower end artcore and it plays like butter. Excellent guitars for the price.
