On a three point rating system (Easy, Medium, Hard) what would you rate the bass line for this song?
#2
depends on you. why, might you be asking such a thing?

I wouldn't call what we have here on the Bass Forum a mentality. It's more like the sharing part of an AA meeting.

I've just started playing bass, and I'm just wondering where it stands a song for a beginner. As for what i can play, I can play:

"Something" - Beatles
"Oh Darling" - Beatles
"Drive My Car" - Beatles
"September" - Earth Wind and Fire
"So Lonely" - Police
"Go Your Own Way" - Fleetwood Mac
"My Generation" - The Who
"American Girl" - Tom Petty & HB

if you can play My Generation's solos, I wouldn't expect it to be so hard for you.

another song that might be fun for you could be Too Much Time On My Hands by Styx.

The actual line? I'd rate it amateur if you had the tabs. It's not that complicated a line if you know what's going on. However it's very hard to learn by ear because it's so... not what the rest of the song does. And his live fills are definitely up there in difficulty.

I was looking at a used Warwick Vampyre LTD 5'er for about $200. I went home to grab my wallet and came back and some jerk with an epic beard got it already..

I should ban you for just mentioning Styx in this forum.

I agree with Fitz--its fairly straightforward to play but is quite counterpoint to everything else in the song, esp. Moon's drumming.

DAN-EDIT: You're right, I'll never mention Styx again

if stupidly overdramatic and cliche at times.
