Why do bands have to be confined to a genre? It's okay to experiment sometimes. It's not illegal.
#3
Dream theater's latest album. It was mostly of the genre 'Mediocre'.
The will be heartache,

and joy I can't explain.

Anywho, I'd say when MGMT did Metanoia. It's a 13 minute long progressive song, pretty damn good too, I might add.

What? It isn't?
Well, it should be. I don't like it when bands don't stick to formuliac songwriting or the original style that I fell in love with.
I especially don't like it when bands don't make the same album for the rest of their musical careers. Hate that ****!

Tim Burton, to punk, to country-pop, coming from a *flameshield* metal band.
has a terrible signature.

No. That's a ballad, that doesn't count, but you can still tell it's from an album of bad melodeath.

Well, Agalloch is a good example I can think of, they usually play stuff like this:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xw8zP_Xb8KQ

Melodic Folk/Black Metal.

But their recent album was all acoustic Folk music, as here:

Pretty much the whole Chuck album, who'd have thought that a band with such a pop-punk reputation would produce (in my opinon) one of the best metal influenced albums ever.

Then Dave left and they went even more sissy then before .
