blue the other better colour
bends in my mind without
a strong breeze
caught in the comedy of
drunken lonliness
whistling around the bottle top.
i came back into the room and thought a candle
had fallen over
but it was just the reflection of a flame
from a penny on the floor.
got excited for a minute then went back to
killing lions
hunter gatherer
spaced out on the nothingness
and the loss
in my fingertips
clicking at keys
opening doors
that go nowhere.

i spoke to a pretty girl who said she
would sit in bed
with a book and a
cup of english tea
and that her evening
would be more enjoyable
than mine.

Hey Chris, it is been a while since I have actually commented on one of your pieces, but I pretty much read each one that you post. This was a good example of some of your higher acclaimed pieces and I did enjoy it. I wonder how you write, do you write on the spot or is it all intricately thought out in layers?

Thank you for sharing.

PS: If you do not mind, could you please have a quick read on my piece and tell me what you think? Here's a link if you care to and thank you. https://www.ultimate-guitar.com/forum/showthread.php?t=1164928

oh shit. this hit hard. why are we always looking for the exciting, the pleasurable, the giant possibilities in an evening? and how come others can find joy within so little? why can't we desire nothing and be content with everything. thats what i found in this.

i believe the answer is balance though. balancing out life makes the smaller more enjoyable. if there is never anything big, or socially pleasing, then you can't sit contently at home with yourself.
